LIVABILITY FELLOWSHIP

The Livability Fellowship is a six-month program that equips community members with the knowledge and skills to help make Santa Fe more affordable, sustainable, and vibrant. Fellows commit to attend a speaker series with national and local leaders and additional training sessions that enable participants to build their expertise and strengthen Santa Fe. The program is free, and graduates receive a $500 stipend. Graduates join a powerful growing network of alumni that continues to shape Santa Fe post-fellowship. Homewise is excited to bring this program to Albuquerque in 2025.

“Affordable housing in Santa Fe is a very high priority for most of us, but what to do? The Livability Fellowship and Series is a wonderful way to learn what plans are in the works, imagine what is possible in the future and how to become engaged in the process. I’ve learned so much and met so many good people. What a gift Homewise is giving our city.”

“Through thoughtful and well-organized presentations, the Livable Santa Fe Fellowship in Sustainable Urban Growth helped me better understand how I could contribute to the community so as to help Santa Fe move towards being a safer, more walkable/bikeable, and more affordable place to live.”

-Joanne Lefrak

“The Livability Series is exactly what’s needed for the public to learn what’s really causing the housing crisis and teach us about how to encourage both our elected officials and our neighbors to support and pursue real solutions. I admit I was skeptical, having worked in local government and neighborhood organizing and dealt with the stunning lack of factual and practical information on the part of the public and civic leaders, but I’m just so glad to have participated!  It was truly exciting to be in a room with a wonderfully broad cross section of Santa Fe (including so many young people!) determined to make change, garner usable examples of what works, and create workable approaches to divisive and complex issues.  And it was thrilling to see the actual results at public meetings where, thanks to this series, more people are showing up and are well informed and positively focused.  “Vision in action” is how I would describe it—and this series will greatly facilitate and accelerate both intelligent planning and the adoption of smart growth management guidelines and regulatory structures. Keep up the good work!”
