Rachel Simon Stark (Heydemann) is a collaborative leader with over 14 years of experience co-directing large-scale social impact initiatives in the non-profit, tech, academic, and public sectors. Rachel earned her Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University in Social Policy and International Relations, and her Masters in City and Regional Planning from UC Berkeley. As a consultant and practitioner in the field of urban planning, her focus has been on mitigating national and local housing crises and transforming the land/housing landscape toward wider possibility, access, healing, and wellbeing for all. She has overseen projects including: administering $425 million in public subsidies to support nearly 50 affordable housing developments serving hundreds of residents in the Bay Area; co-designing revolutionary care solutions alongside unhoused individuals in San Francisco; developing communications strategies to help community land trusts expand their reach; advocating for and co-building tiny home villages; partnering with Indigenous peoples to advance land rematriation efforts. Rachel is currently consulting with The Office of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and New Mexico Department of Health supporting affordable housing and homelessness initiatives.
