Jamie Cassutt was raised in Santa Fe by a public school teacher and attorney, and educated in Santa Fe’s public schools. After spending over a decade on the West Coast for higher education and to gain experience in the public health field, Jamie recognized the profound influence that her unique upbringing in Santa Fe had on her perspectives and values. In 2018, Jamie returned to Santa Fe to raise her son in a community rich in history, racial and cultural diversity, the arts, and nature.

Jamie obtained a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and a Master’s in Public Health in Community Health Science from UCLA. Jamie worked as a School Wellness Coordinator for an elementary school district in San Diego County, California, on the front lines of the battle against childhood obesity and diabetes. She also coordinated a Rady Children’s Hospital program bringing volunteer pediatricians into homeless shelters and affordable housing communities, providing health education and literacy promotion to families with young children and addressing generational trauma.

As a public health professional, Jamie views all public policy as health policy because every decision made at City Hall impacts the physical, emotional and financial well-being of individuals and the communities as a whole. As City Councilor, she is dedicated to working for the welfare of all Santa Feans, to ensure that the City Different remains a place where families of all economic means and individuals pursuing their life passion can thrive.

Jamie is currently in her first year of her second term as a City Councilor representing District 4. She chairs the Quality of Life and Economic Development Advisory Committees and serves on the Finance Committee, the Buckman Direct Diversion Board, and the Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Policy Board.
