Matthew Desmond: Author of “Evicted” and “Poverty, By America”

Join us for the Livability in the Land of Enchantment Speaker Series! This FREE monthly series will bring local and national speakers to venues across town. Free public talks will be followed by a social hour with food, drinks, and community building.

The first session of the series will take place on May 15th at 6:30pm at SITE Santa Fe. Matthew Desmond, Professor of Sociology at Princeton University and author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City and the newly released Poverty, By America, will discuss:

  • Rising rents and housing costs and potential solutions

  • How housing connects to the wealth gap

  • The exploitation of the poor in the housing market

  • How housing options can be expanded, and homeownership made possible for more people

Childcare and interpretation will be provided. When reserving your ticket please indicate if you need childcare or interpretation.
