LIVABILITY SPEAKER SERIES

“Our values can’t stop where our property lines begin”

Matthew Desmond

The Livability in the Land of Enchantment Speaker Series is a community education program created in 2023 that brings local and national speakers to venues across Santa Fe helping residents learn how housing markets become unaffordable and ways to manage development patterns to increase affordability, sustainability, and livability.

In the face of an unprecedented housing affordability crisis and following a series of contentious land use battles over proposed affordable housing projects, many in the pro-affordable housing community knew it was time to go on the offense. A coalition of partners led by Santa Fe City Councilors Jamie Cassutt and Carol Romero-Wirth and residents have committed, through the Livability Series, to raise the level of dialogue about affordable housing, empowering both residents and public officials to act in defense of our entire community.

This website is a resource for individuals who want to learn more about the connections between land use and affordability, sustainability, and livability. Get started with your learning journey by checking out the digital archive of past events and our resources page.
